These handcrafts are produced by Mayan people in the highlands of Guatemala and as we purchase these products it provides a means of self sufficiency for the families. Our purpose is to give the artisan a fair trade price for their work so that they can support their families, educate their children and have hope and dignity in their lives. This jewelry is made by women's groups and we purchase the jewelry using fair trade guidelines which gives the women a fair daily wage for their work. If the women sell to wholesalers they receive a fraction of the amount that we pay them and they are unable to support their families. The more we sell the more we are able to purchase from them and they are able to earn a living because of the fair trade prices we pay. Please consider giving fair trade jewelry whenever you need to purchase a gift for someone. It really makes a difference in the lives of the women and their families!
