Host An

'Artisan Market'

Sale

Markets are so vital to little villages and towns in Guatemala that nearly every one has at least one market day each week. Here the artisans, the farmers, the housewives and others sell whatever they make or grow. These markets are vital to the communities and to the people --- it helps to support families with additional income and helps the communities because often times people from outside the community come to the markets and make purchases. Large markets often draw tourists and they make purchases.

Now you can help the artisans in our women's groups by volunteering to sell their handcrafts in a market in your church! Hosting a sale at your church, community center or in your home can benefit the women just like taking their handcrafts to the local market--- it just expands their market!

Email for more information and to receive an application!

Volunteers that host parties and sell handcrafts have fun by setting a Guatemalan theme, getting friends and church members to help coordinate the bazaar and also by showing pictures and PowerPoint slide shows to acquaint people with the mission of Education And More and tell about Fair Trade. We will provide you with a Powerpoint slide show if you would like to show it..

Steps to volunteering to host a sale:

  1. Email Education And More for an application and order form.
  2. Decide on products to order or have us choose a good product mix for you.
  3. Return application and order approximately 4 weeks before sale.
  4. Decide on date of your sale and begin advertising to all your friends, to your church about the Fair Trade Artisan Market of Guatemalan handcrafts.
  5. Learn more about Fair Trade thru our blog or on this website and explain to attendees how the artisans earn more money and benefits because of Fair Trade.
  6. After the sale return unsold handcrafts and a send a check for product sold, within one week.
