In Guatemala, Easter is a holiday that comes with exciting traditions and activities. Festivities happen throughout the week leading up to Easter Sunday - Holy Week, or Semana Santa.
One of the most beautiful traditions is the art of creating carpets out of dyed sawdust, flowers, and other organic materials. Many of these carpets are laid on the paths of daily processions. This tradition goes back many generations, and this is a holiday activity that many look forward to each year.
