About Us

 

It all started because of a desire to help mothers in Guatemala earn an income so they could educate their children and support their families.  Education And More was founded!

Education And More is a Christian charitable organization with one mission-- to help disadvantaged families in Guatemala.

 Our Education and Sponsorship Programs helps students so they may start their schooling or return to school to finish their education. Students of all ages - children through adult - are welcomGuatemalan Children in Vacation Bible Schooled into the program to advance their education from first grade through their university studies.

The Fair Line....... by Education And More is our Fair Trade program. We are an ethical shopping source for you -- a member of the Fair Trade Federation, and we assist disadvantaged artisans in earning a fair income for their work. However, in addition to a fair income they receive many more benefits for their families such as education for their children, repairs to improve their homes and lives, new sewing centers for added skills and income, grants, micro-credit loans, Vacation Bible School and much more.

Since 2007 we have been helping families.  A few of our milestones include:

  • 2006 - work begins on formulating plans to help artisans and their children
  • 2007 - we received 501c3 status from the IRS as a charitable organization in the United States
  • 2009 - student sponsorship program began
  • 2009 - accepted as a member of the Fair Trade Federation
  • 2010 - mission trips and weaving tours begin so volunteers and supporters can meet our artisans and enjoy this beautiful country
  • 2010 - highlighted in Lucky Magazine with our purse designs
  • 2011 - Sewing Center program began with building and furnishing of sewing centers along with months of sewing lessons for the women artisans.
  • 2013 - Vacation Bible School and Christian outreach started in our partner artisans communities
  • 2013 - began partnering with Ministerio El Muro to repair the homes of artisans and repair rural schools.
  • 2013 - Healthy Homes Healthy Families program initiated to help our partner artisans
